Family & Community Spirit

The importance at this time of Global Turmoil is to take care of your family and that of your community

I haven’t been out since the new measures were put into place, my last venture out was to see my best friend Jason, as we were really unaware of when we were going to see each other again, sometime in the future we hope but do not know when. An hour catching up, most of the adventures that we had planned, had been cancelled or postponed, and now we know that there probably wont be any at all in 2020 … but, that is a small price to pay for the safety of our friends, family, and communities. So to have the opportunity to visit Jason, Sarah and then to see my family was a bonus and a treasured memory.

Me and Jason, with our PPE taking no chances….. Please Please Please, take this Covid19 seriously:

So, today I  did my first run to one our church members, my good friend Jenny, who is Gluten intolerant, and needs Gluten Free food. I managed to get some together for her and made the trip to her home. It was a surprise visit and  we observed the Self Distancing.  It was good to see her, even though we keep in contact every day on Whatsapp/Messenger. It was good to do something for her, as  Jenny is always unselfishly thinking of others.

There are about 20 people that I keep in contact daily, just to make sure they are ok and not desperately needing anything. Keeping in touch is sometimes the only contact that they have.

I stopped at the PO in Westbury to see if there was any GF products there, sadly nothing there, but posted 2 letters. The ladies here were very cheerful, had set a table up outside, 3 people there standing the 6-8 feet apart.  Still serving their community, congratulations to Westbury PO …. I had my PPE on and was very happy to see such spirit.

So, arrived to drop off the goods, observing the Self Distance rule, even had a cup of tea, of course from a disinfected cup and rubber gloves. Was very happy to have made the trip and see a happy smile.

Great photo of Jenny, Smiling and Happy !!

Came back to my home , there was a community nurse who had parked and was visiting on of the residents where I live, I noticed that her front tyre was less inflated than it should have been so I called her over and said that I would get it sorted while she made her visit. The tyre had only 18lbs so I inflated that tyre and then checked the rest, she was happy and I was very happy to be able to help… Feels good it really does, managing to help 2 people in a day when so many are helping in a much bigger way than me.

I managed to burn some toast early evening and that set off the alarms, my neighbours are so good, the last two times the alarms have gone off have been ME! We are getting used to resetting the system and closing the “auto open” landing skylights…. Ooooops Sorry

Rounding off the day we had the 8pm “Hand Clapping” outside, from windows and doorways, an amazing spectacle to see and hear, A HUGE thank you to all the NHS workers and all Healthcare and associated employees who are risking their lives to keep us safe…THANK YOU

It’s true, there are many many people in the world, near and far who need to just be able to talk to someone, interact, and now it has become more difficult, but, God will find a way of showing us how.

 Joshua 1:9

“Be strong and Courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go”
